Dye Aluminum Paintball Barrel Review
The Dye Aluminum paintball barrel reviewed here is a one-piece that comes in 10", 12", and 14" for most guns.
Summary: The Aluminum is accurate, very quiet, doesn't break balls, very light, and durable. It is not self-cleaning, and mixed opinions about ease of cleaning. A decent barrel, but other barrels were recommended as better. Reviews When you read a barrel's reviews, patterns can be seen. The following points have been compiled from various Dye reviews. From 25 of 68 reviews: Strengths • This Dye barrel is accurate, easily as accurate as the Dye Boomstick but at a fraction of the weight. • The Aluminum is very quiet. • This Dye barrel Doesn't breaks balls. • The Aluminum is very light and durable. • $90 Weaknesses • This Dye barrel is not self cleaning. You will need to squeegee if you break a ball. One player thought it self-cleaned pretty fast, but still recommended using a squeegee to shoot like new. Another player thought that if there was paint in the barrel it would cause more breaks. • The finish scratches easily, but then it is aluminum. • The Aluminum is a gas hog. The over-porting to make it really quiet consumes more gas; it's a tradeoff. Comments • One player thought this Dye is a good barrel for recreational play but not tournament play. Another thought it on a par with the Dye Boomstick, but did not recommended you buy it. Another rated it a good beginner/starter barrel and better than stock, but he (and another player) suggested the Dye Ultralite as a better choice. What recommended this barrel was that it was cheaper. • Some thought the Aluminum was easy to clean, but one didn't. The porting is hard to clean; flush with water at the end of the day. • There were several comments that this barrel has been discontinued. • Suggested paintballs: PMI Premium, RPS Marballizer, DraXxus Blaze. • One player suggested using Pro-Team Products Barrel Treatment; it is like car wax that makes the barrel smooth inside. • Players liked the looks of this barrel.
